The Director of Communications at the Democratic Party, Alfred Lela, raised concerns about the way the diaspora views Albania, given that it will be part of the 2025 parliamentary elections for the first time.

Speaking on Syri TV, Lela said that the diaspora is a big and strong game, and is seen as the next trick of Edi Rama and his government to try to get their votes.

"I think the Democratic Party is still warming up to get into the game. The game has already started and the diaspora is a big game, a strong game. I think it is the next trick of Edi Rama and his government to try to get the diaspora vote. The diaspora sees Albania first through the lens of nostalgia – it feels longing for Albania and it is wrong. When you are under the effect of nostalgia and longing, you are wrong.

Secondly, the diaspora also sees Albania through the lens of major national televisions and media, where news reports present Albania as a perfect country, as if it were Denmark. If you look at the reports of our major televisions, from beginning to end, they only talk about successes: successes in tourism, in the Municipality of Tirana, in bridges, roads, and others, which are often imaginary. But our compatriots abroad do not know this and do not rejoice in the success of the Rama government, but, in this case, they rejoice in the "success" of Albania ," said Lela.
