"Vote with the ID where they live", Bylykbashi: DP has changes in the

The DP seems to have proposals ready to intervene in the Electoral Code, which according to them allows the diaspora to vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

Oerd Bylykbashi says in Klan News that the opposition amendments that will be submitted at the start of the parliamentary session enable any Albanian citizen who does not have a domestic identification document to vote with that of the country where they live.

"So a passport or a letter of notification from the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom. If they have the right to cross the border safely, why don't they have the right, being on the voter list, to identify themselves to exercise this right from their home."

Bylykbashi says that the aim is to provide solutions to cases related to the extension of the validity periods of identification documents.

"As happened in 2021 and 2023, the government should issue a normative act that extends the deadline for all biometric documents issued since 2009, at least for electoral purposes only, until the end of the electoral process."

What is of concern, according to the vice president of the Democrats, is the large number of registration rejections by the CEC through the PER platform.

"The Central Election Commission rejects cases where there is no real data that would enable voting by mail from abroad, but there is no right to give a "you vote, you don't vote" option."
