The Elbasan Prosecutor's Office has launched investigations regarding the Democratic Party's denunciation of vote manipulation through the so-called "Bulgarian train" in the village of Pekisht.

According to the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office, this proceeding is currently in the investigation phase.

" In response to your request registered with us under No. 5470, dated 26.05.2025, regarding the information requested regarding the event of 22.05.2025 that occurred in the village of Pekisht Peqin, we inform you that:

From the verification carried out by the registry office, it results that criminal proceedings No. 522 dated 26.05.2025 have been registered, for the criminal offense of "Falsification of electoral material and election results" provided for by Article 326 of the Criminal Code. Currently, this proceeding is in the investigation phase. Thank you," the response states.

This decision by the Elbasan prosecutor's office came after Sali Berisha and Democratic candidate Bledi Himçi reported that some suspected election materials were found in a bar in the village of Pekisht. In this bar, several fake ballots and a sum of money in the possession of the headman of the village of Pekisht, Dervish Beqiri, who was also an observer for the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections, were seized.
