Fire reactivates in Darëzeza forest, firefighting efforts impossible

The fire in the Darëzeza forest has been reactivated, a few hours after it was brought under control this morning.

The Ministry of Defense announces that a helicopter has been dispatched to the scene to intervene from the air, as the fire has spread further and intervention with firefighting equipment has become impossible.

"Today at noon, in the village of Darëzezë e Re, Dërmena administrative unit, Fier municipality, the fire that was extinguished the day before in the Darëzezë forest has been reactivated.

There are 7 firefighting vehicles with 40 MZSH personnel, a bulldozer and a fire truck at the scene, but due to the sandy terrain and the large size of the fire, the situation in the Darëzeza forestry economy has not yet been brought under control.

At around 2:00 PM, the fire spread further and it became impossible to intervene with firefighting equipment.

In coordination with the Joint Operations Center (JOC), the Air Force's Cougar helicopter has been deployed for air intervention support.

The area affected by the flames is about 10 hectares, while the wind is favoring the fire's advance in the northern part of the forest ," the Ministry of Defense announced.
