Analyst: Political acts have damaged Albania more than criminal gangs

Analyst Lorenc Vangjeli spoke about Albanian gangs and the development of their influence across borders, but also within the country.

Invited to A2 CNN, he said that there are political acts that have been more harmful than the acts of structured criminal groups in the country. 

"There are political acts that have been committed in this country, which have been more harmful than the acts of structured criminal groups. Here, acts have criminally affected the life of the entire society. Wrong political decisions. These have come from ignorance, from wickedness," said Vangjeli. 

He further said that over the course of 10 years, these groups have grown enormously, but categorically denied their role in becoming cocaine kings.

"With cannabis trafficking, Albanian criminal groups manage to secure logistics, the necessary finances, the right contacts. A group that is capable of crossing 1 ton of cannabis from one side of the sea would find it much easier to do so with 100 kg of cocaine."

This is the first moment of Albanians penetrating the first link of the chain in the source countries. Initially, the news that came to us was almost as if some tourists were going to Latin America, where some money was being taken there, but also someone was being held hostage there.

"In the space of 10 years, these criminal groups have managed to control all the links in this chain. I cannot believe, as it seems impossible to me, the political statements that classify Albanians as the top or kings of the cocaine market. They have a share, but we often multiply it by 100. They have become very visible, but they are absolutely not at the top of the dome ," said Vangjeli.
