She escaped drowning in Durres, the 31-year-old English woman speaks: We

The 31-year-old British citizen, Vera Ruani, who ended up in the water after a jet ski overturned near the Kavaja Rock, is out of danger. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and ended tragically for her friend, 33-year-old Silvester Dheug, who lost his life from asphyxiation.

According to sources from Durrës hospital, Vera Ruani was immediately transferred from the emergency room to the pathology department, where she underwent full medical tests, magnetic resonance imaging and lung imaging, which did not reveal any problems. She is being held in the hospital for administrative procedures, including verification of her identity and time spent in Albania.

Meanwhile, in her testimony before the investigation team, the 31-year-old explained the dynamics of the incident. According to her, she and her friend had rented a jet ski and were equipped with life jackets, but not with diving suits. After they crossed the starting line and were about 150 meters from the shore, the driver of the vehicle attempted a high-speed circular maneuver, which proved fatal.

The vehicle overturned and both fell into the water. The girl ended up separated from the vehicle, while her friend remained under it, suffocating. A border patrol was at the scene and immediately intervened to provide assistance. Despite the efforts, Silvester Dheug died a few moments after being transported by boat to the seaport of Durrës, where the ambulance was located.

Vera Ruani is currently in stable condition and under medical care. Police are continuing their investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the tragic accident.
