Greece and Turkey hit by earthquake

Tourists in western Turkey and the Greek islands were shaken by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake on Monday evening. The quake had its epicenter near the resort island of Rhodes.

At least one person has died in Turkey, while dozens more suffered injuries as panicked locals tried to jump from their buildings.

The earthquake struck about 29 km north of Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands near the border with Turkey.

Shock waves were felt in parts of southern Greece, western Turkey and coastal areas of the Aegean Sea, local reports said.

Dozens of locals were taken to hospital for treatment in Mugla, Turkey, after suffering injuries while trying to rush out of their homes.
