Switzerland/ Albanian caught with drugs worth over 1 million euros

A 23-year-old Albanian man has been arrested by Swiss authorities at a border crossing after being caught transporting around 9 kilograms of pure cocaine in his car.

According to Swiss media, the young man, a resident of Germany, was trying to leave Switzerland when customs officials intervened and found the quantity of drugs during a routine check. His name is not being released due to the ongoing investigation.

The 23-year-old is suspected of being part of an organized criminal network operating between Switzerland, Germany and Italy, using couriers to distribute large quantities of narcotics.

After being detained and questioned, he was arrested by the cantonal police and is currently under investigation for serious violations of the Federal Narcotics Act.

The Cantonal Public Prosecutor's Office has entrusted the investigation to prosecutor Petra Canonica Alexakis. Authorities have not provided further details due to investigative secrecy, while work is underway to identify other members of the criminal organization behind the trafficking.

According to expert estimates, the amount of cocaine seized, if divided and traded in doses, would have a market value of over 1 million euros.
