Traffic jams and over 14 thousand fines, Traffic Police take stock of the week

Tirana's Traffic Police have significantly intensified controls on the main axes of the capital, using drones, radars, intelligent cameras and increased physical presence of services, to guarantee order and safety in road traffic.

In the balance of the past week, the authorities announce 49 citizens arrested or prosecuted for serious violations of the Highway Code. 15 of them were arrested for driving while intoxicated or without a driver's license, constituting an increased risk to road safety.

Also, 4 people wanted for various criminal offenses were detained during the checks. 40 vehicles were impounded, while 14,495 administrative measures were imposed, including fines for speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, lack of documentation and wrongful overtaking.

Also, 21 driving licenses have been suspended for serious violations related to road safety.
