Toxic waste traffic/ Muçollari: State institutions hide information from

The member of the presidency of the DP, Grigels Muçollari, through a statement to the media, has made it known that the state institutions have not provided information about the traffic of toxic waste.

The statement of the member of the presidency of the DP, Grigels Muçollari:

The toxic waste scandal was deepened yesterday in the Assembly by the Prime Minister who hid the truth of this illegal traffic.

In front of the deputies, in front of the citizens, Edi Rama lied in the most important hall of the country, which is the Parliament, when he said that there is neither dangerous waste nor illegal traffic.

He said this, while on his desk there is a report of the environmental inspectorate dated 23.08.2024, which concluded, after the scandal broke, that 20 thousand tons of hazardous waste were here, and were exported by the company that has licensed Minister Kumbaro.

Having this document in the office, Edi Rama shamelessly came out yesterday and denied it, lied, and attacked the media, the opposition and the "Basel Network" for creating a false alarm.

When the head of the government denies, hides the truth, deceives from the floor of the Assembly, imagine how much transparency the structures below him can provide.

On August 21, we officially addressed the institutions directly related to this case, with a request for information. We have addressed the Port of Durrës, the Customs Directorate, the Tax Directorate, the Ministry of Finance.

Their response, these letters here, in a coordinated way, is more or less the same. So it is not an answer, no information is given.

They only care to say that they have no responsibility, and remember to add that the prosecution has started the investigation.

The investigation launched by the prosecution is not a defense for institutions not to provide information about their work and responsibility.

The Directorate of Taxes is an exemplary case, as it states that it cannot identify what it is about. They do not distinguish, even though this has already become an international scandal.

The Port of Durrës says that loading and unloading is the responsibility of private operators.

The Customs Directorate says that after hearing the news, it filed a report.

We inform the leaders of these institutions that obstructing the deputy in the exercise of his functions by not making available the required information, consumes the elements of the criminal offense of abuse of office.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister of the country contributed to this irresponsibility, committing a new offense, which is intentional fraud, related to this international traffic of hazardous waste.

Edi Rama yesterday also accused the 'Basel Network', a prestigious international organization that first raised the alarm about this case, accused the Italian government, and even Thailand, which rejected those charges, that all these actors are in coordination with the Opposition , having conspired to harm him. And after this deviation, he took this traffic as a defense.

The Basel Convention, which we are also bound by, stipulates that the country from which the illegal trade in waste is carried out is responsible.

The ship is returning to where it started, it is on its way, because Edi Rama cannot manipulate the 'Basel Network', cannot corrupt this organization.

Waste, and this traffic, are the responsibility of the government and the prime minister.

And the more he continues to blame others, and the media and the opposition, the more he denounces himself as involved and connected to this crime.
