Zhupa interpellance with Gonxhe: Why have the recommendations of UNESCO not been

The democratic MP Ina Zhupa held an interview with Blendi Gonxhen, the Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation on a number of issues starting with the Butrint National Park.

Zhupa asked Gonxha why the recommendations given by UNESCO for protected areas in Albania have not been implemented.

"You went with Godfather, with a private lawyer. What public functions do these people who represent the country in Unesco have? Why does the government ignore all UNESCO recommendations? What interest does the government have in jeopardizing protected property? Why don't you ask our experts about anything? Take foreigners", said Zhupa.

However, Gonxhe could not answer the question why UNESCO's recommendations have not yet been taken into consideration.

"You mentioned names of people, but I don't think it's right to stop here. I have respect for your dedication to the topic, but also you as a deputy. It was to be welcomed that the decision in the Cultural Heritage Community was unanimous. I don't know that I have been with such a person in function in meeting in Paris. I can tell you that Mr. Lorenc Bejko is the representative of ICOMOS in Albania and therefore he was at the Unesco meeting. You think that this is the 'Achilles' heel' but for us it is an achievement, with the overlapping of several maps we have made the right decisions. We took advice and did a good job. It is not true that we did not include Albanian troops, as we also received many students from the school banks. The foundation is not affiliated with any business program. (On the issue of Butrint park)", said Gonxhja.
