Zhupa reacts after Braca's threat to the media: The Prosecution should not

The chairperson of the Education and Media Commission, Ina Zhupa, has reacted after the statement of the socialist deputy, Erjon Brace, who asked the prosecutor's office to launch an investigation into media reports on the murder of a 14-year-old boy near a school in Tirana. In a post on social networks, Zhupa emphasized that Edi Rama and his representatives wage war against the media that criticize the government and threaten journalists with criminal prosecution.

Zhupa added that it is those media that do not follow the government's propaganda and that demand transparency and justice, that are being threatened with criminal prosecution by the Socialist MP, Erion Brace. She invited the law enforcement bodies not to fall prey to political orders and to respect the freedom of the media.

The full reaction on social networks:

Edi Rama and his people stick out their heads, start a war against the media that speaks against the government and threaten them with criminal prosecution. Erjon Brace has stated today that "he has asked the prosecutor's office to start investigations regarding the media reports on the murder of a 14-year-old boy near a school in Tirana". As we warned, the disinformation commission had nothing to do with the penetration of propaganda related to Russia and China, but to our dictator Rama, who will control the media and persecute those he cannot control.

Exactly those media that do not follow the thread about the deceptions of the next statement of the state police, that give voice to the family of the injured boy Luisi, that demand not to manipulate the event and justice, those media today were threatened with criminal prosecution by Erjon Brace . Investigation and prosecution when you don't like the news about the work of government bodies, for those media that dare not close their eyes to witnesses. The international community needs to see and hear that all the warnings we have said privately and publicly are being borne out.

A dangerous precedent is being created that leads to the imprisonment of journalists and the closing of the media just for publishing facts, evidence different from what the government says. I call on the law enforcement bodies not to take action against the media at the political behest of Brace and not to become a pawn for the political goals of a rotten majority. This is the first crack of a wild campaign that will take place against the free media on the eve of the 2025 elections. We will stand for freedom of expression and freedom of the media at all costs.
