Former FBI official Charles McGonigal, who is accused of collaborating with sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, will appear in federal court in Manhattan on Thursday.

As seen, McGonigal is scheduled to appear before the court, to talk about the charges against him.

After retiring in 2018, McGonigal worked on the payroll of a sanctioned Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, who was once seen as a member of President Vladimir Putin's inner circle, according to the indictment of McGonigal and Sergey Shestakov.

Likewise, the name of Prime Minister Edi Rama, as a close friend of McGonigal, was also mentioned in the investigative file. The American media have published details of the duo's relationship, where McGonigal, while still in the FBI, performed services in favor of Rama.

Also, McGonigal is suspected of having received an amount of 220 thousand dollars from Prime Minister Rama, through Dorian Ducka and Agron Neza.  

Through McGonigal, it is suspected that Rama lobbied against the Albanian opposition.
