Complaining about the closed list, the Constitutional Court rejects the first

The Constitutional Court has rejected the first request of the parties to annul the amendments to the Electoral Code approved at the end of July by the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party.

Complaining parties "Movement for National Development", organization "Albania Bëhet", "Nisma Thurje" party, Lulzim Basha, Orjola Pampuri, Merita Bakiu, Gëzim Ademaj, "New Democracy Alliance" party, "Democratic Movement for Change" party, the "Kombtare Konservat" party asked the Constitutional Court to annul as incompatible with the Constitution the amendments by closing the list of candidates for deputy, in most of it.

Full request:  "Abrogation of articles 67 and 163, points 2 and 3, of law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 "Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania", amended by Articles 5 and 9 of Law no. 81/2024, as incompatible with the Constitution of the Republic of Albania. Suspension of the implementation of Articles 67 and 163 of Law no. 10019, dated 29.12.2008 "Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania", amended by Articles 5 and 9 of Law no. 81/2024. The final interpretation of Article 64 of the Constitution or its repeal".
