A 28-year-old wanted by Spain for drug trafficking is arrested in Vau i

A 28-year-old man from Shkodra, internationally wanted by Spanish authorities for drug trafficking and electricity theft, has been arrested by the Special Operational Forces of the State Police.

The operation codenamed "Operacionalja 45" took place on the "Vau i Dejës - Shkodër" road axis, where it was possible to detain citizen EK, 28 years old, with the aim of extradition to Spain.

According to the official police announcement, the arrest was made after close cooperation with the Spanish authorities, through Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid. The young man is suspected of cultivating narcotic plants of the Cannabis Sativa type in Spanish territory, with the help of special lamps, as well as committing theft of electricity to supply drug laboratories.

The Barcelona court ordered him to be held in prison earlier this year. Albanian authorities are awaiting the finalization of the procedures for his extradition to Spain.

The operation is considered another blow against persons involved in international criminal activity, confirming the close cooperation between the State Police and international security partners.
