Dako's lawyer: He is accused of 'abuse of duty' in two cases

Vangjush Dako's lawyer, Petrit Ismaili, declares that the arrest warrant against the former mayor of Durrës was issued with accusations of "abuse of duty" in two cases.

According to Ismail, one case for which Dako is accused is the report of the residents of an 11-story building damaged by the earthquake, who claim that there were problems with the approval of the building, and the other case is a report of the former head of the DP Durrës, Ferdinand Xhaferrit.

He added that they had heard the news about SPAK's arrest warrant from the media and then surrendered to the police.

"SPAK has imposed the security measure of "arrest in prison" for Dako. It is an accusation of "abuse of duty" against Dako on two occasions. One report is from the residents of an 11-story building who claim that there are problems with the approval of this building.

A report is filed on the eve of the 2021 elections by Ferdinand Xhaferi, at that time the chairman of the PD branch in Durrës. SPAK is unable to maintain balance under the pressure of politics and internationals, and under this pressure it is taking hasty measures. Even for the manner of execution and Dako's attitude, I think that the measure of prison arrest was not necessary.

After the finalization by the media, I notified the Police Directorate and we surrendered. The police did not go to Dako's apartment, Dako was in Tirana", said the lawyer.
