Southern cattle farmers protest: State should increase subsidies

Livestock farmers from Gjirokastra and Saranda protested this Saturday at the Kardhiqi bridge, where they requested support from the state.

They expressed concern about the reduction in the price of milk collection from their dairies, which has caused financial difficulties.

According to them, dairies have reduced the price from 170 lek/liter to 130-140 lek/liter, driving farmers towards bankruptcy.

Livestock farmers are requesting an urgent meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and have put forward a series of demands, including setting a ceiling price for milk, doubling subsidies, transparency in the allocation of pastures, and the construction of water works that will serve the development of livestock farming.
