Letter Reveals Real Reason Tupac and Madonna Split Published

Tupac Shakur has been dead for almost 30 years, but he's still getting people talking about him as fans reflect on his brief relationship with the Queen of Pop Madonna.

The "California Love" rapper met his tragic end after a filming trip to Los Angeles in 1996, but just two years ago he enjoyed a fiery romance with the biggest star in the world.

The relationship delighted many fans at the time, but a breakup letter written by the rapper to his girlfriend while he was serving time in prison in 1995 confirms that they were together, and as it's circulating the internet once again after three decades, it's leaving people stunned. Although the singer posthumously revealed their relationship during an interview with Howard Stern 20 years later, it was Tupac's ink on the letter about the 'magic' they shared that caught fans' attention.

In the emotional letter, which he penned when he was 23, he wrote that he “never wanted to hurt” Madonna, but feared that his love for the “extremely famous sex symbol” could ruin his already faltering career. Although Tupac was a full-fledged rapper at the time, he was serving a term in New York City’s largest prison, Rikers Island, after a conviction for first-degree sexual assault.

This along with a string of other controversies, including a public feud with Janet Jackson over her alleged demand that Tupac take an HIV test before kissing her in the 1993 film Poetic Justice, had left his promising career in tatters.
