German court sentences man to life in prison for murder of Albanian boxer Besar
The Bielefeld Regional Court in Germany has sentenced to life imprisonment the perpetrator of the murder of the boxer of Albanian origin, Besar Nimani, who was executed in a macabre manner several years ago.

The decision was announced after the prosecution requested the maximum sentence for the perpetrator. German media reports that the verdict is not yet final, as the convicted party has the right to appeal it to the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe.

Under the German penal system, life imprisonment means deprivation of liberty for an indefinite period, but lasting at least 15 years. After this period, the authorities may consider suspending the sentence if the legal and psychological conditions for a possible reintegration of the convict into society are met.

The murder of Besar Nimani shocked public opinion, not only because of the brutality of the act, but also because the victim was a well-known name in the world of sports. Nimani, with a successful boxing career, enjoyed widespread respect in the Albanian community in Germany.
