At an electoral meeting in Mirdita, the DP - ASHM candidate for the Lezha district, Agron Gjekmarkaj, stated that in the face of the injustices faced by citizens, the greatest honor in his life would be to represent Lezha, Mirdita and Kurbin in the Albanian Parliament.

He emphasized the historical role of Mirdita in protecting national values, describing this province as a promoter and inspiration for the change that the DP aims to bring. According to him, the victory of the Democratic Party will start precisely from these noble lands.

Agron Gjekmarkaj's speech

In the face of injustice and your pain, I would accept no greater honor in my life than to represent Lezha, Mirdita and Kurbin in the Albanian Parliament.

Brothers and sisters from Mirdita, Honorable Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Albania, friend and colleague, Mr. Flamur Noka Honorable deputies and candidates for deputies Honorable Mr. Picaku, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Mirdita,

Honorable Mr. Mëlyshi, Mayor of Mirdita Municipality, Dear Mr. Noka, please convey our solemn promise to Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha:

The victory of the Democratic Party, the victory of Albania and all Albanians, will start from Mirdita, Lezha and Kurbini.

Mirdita and the noble Mirditars will be, as always, inspirers, promoters and builders of victory. Of the victory of the Democratic Party, of magnificent Albania.

Because they are the Mirditori of the Kanun of the Mountains, the descendants of the generous captains, of the Albanian-making Abbot Monsignor Preng Doçi, of Ambroz Marlaskaj, the philosopher and prelate, member of the Albanian parliament in the years 1920-1924, and of many other Mirditori men, known for their contribution to Albania and Albanianness.

Rarely has it happened in the modern history of Albania what will happen on May 11. That the contribution of Mirdita and the people of Mirdita, the men and women of these heroic lands where free spirits live, has been so decisive for the fate of Albania.

With her wisdom, Mirdita gave Albanians the first signals of the danger of the communist plague that was plaguing Albania in the middle of the last century. She paid the price of history but also received its glory.

Today, with their attitudes and values, the Mirditors are showing Albanians what lies behind the lies and make-up of the Renaissance.

Of that neo-communist and authoritarian government.

Which will remain in our history as a government of robbery and plunder of the property of Albanians and Mirditori.

In no other province of our beloved Albania is the contrast as profound and as visible as that observed in Mirdita.

Mirdita, to which God and nature have bestowed great human and natural wealth, but whose corrupt governance of Edi Rama has turned the regions of Mirdita into misery.

These treasures would have made Rrësheni, Rubik, Kthella, Fani, Selita, Oroshi, Kaçinari and the villages of these areas flourish.

But in fact, they have filled the pockets of the rulers and oligarchs, the exploiters of Mirdita and all Albanians. The Democratic Party will bring Mirdita and Albania out of the darkness into which this government has plunged it.

Just as it has done during its 13 years of governance, introducing the Albanian society, state, and nation into modern and contemporary democratic developments, restoring it to part of Western civilization, the DP will do that again.

We will respond to the destruction of the Renaissance by building Albania, not by rebuilding the thieves. We will respond to the flight of Albanians by their return to their beloved homeland that eagerly awaits them.

We will respond to corruption with legality, honesty and commitment to Albania, not greed. Sali Berisha's history is the guarantee of these commitments.

Therefore, in the face of your injustices and pain, I would not accept a greater honor in my life than to represent Lezha, Mirdita and Kurbin in the Albanian Parliament. This is our word, this is our mission that stems from our national responsibility.

And Albanians know from ancient and modern history what happens when the Mirditori, these brave and courageous men, as Sami Frashëri called them, promise.

I hug you and thank you all.
