Abuse of "SASPAC" funds/ GJKKO postpones hearing against Ilir Beqaj

The Special Court has postponed the preliminary hearing for the "SASPAC" case, where former Minister Ilir Beqaj is also a defendant.

During today's hearing, the defendants' lawyers requested time to review some of the evidence they claimed was not submitted during the investigation phase. According to the lawyers, this evidence is necessary to enable a more efficient defense during the trial.

Another request was to obtain the materials of the expert report from the seizure of phones, USBs and computers. The next session was scheduled for May 6 at 10:00.

SPAK closed the investigations into this file at the beginning of April, and sent the request for trial against Ilir Beqaj, 8 other defendants, and two freight companies in connection with the SASPAC file.

Former head of European Union funds management and former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, is accused of 5 criminal offenses, including passive corruption, violation of equality in tenders, forgery of documents, fraud, fraud in collaboration and failure to declare assets.
