This evening, another gun attack was recorded in the village of Pllanë, Lezha, where Gjovalin Prendi, the father of Roan Brahim, otherwise known as Sidorel Prendi, was killed.

According to preliminary data, the victim was shot with a firearm by still unidentified persons. The perpetrators immediately left the scene and are currently being sought by the police. The area has been cordoned off, while the investigation is in its first phase and all leads are being examined, including revenge.

The incident comes almost a year after the murder of Roan Brahimi, who was executed on May 9, 2024, in a mafia assassination in Athens, Greece. His wife, Katerina Beqo, was also injured in that attack.

Who was Roan Brahimi?
Roan Brahimi was a well-known name in Albanian justice and the police. He was suspected of involvement in several serious criminal events, including the assassination of Ylli Ibrahimi in 2021 in Zejme, Lezha, where Klisman Preçi was killed. In that violent event, the perpetrators had entered a bar armed with Kalashnikovs, looking for the owner.

Ramazan Rraja, the nephew of SP MP Rrahman Rraja, and Alesio Dobrozi have also been declared wanted for the same incident.

In the assassination attempt on Ibrahim, 108 bullets were fired at their armored vehicle. Preçi was killed as soon as he got out of the car, while Ibrahimi survived, but refused to cooperate with the prosecution.

Roan Brahimi is also rumored to be involved in the mafia assassination of Brilant Martinaj, cousin of Ervis Martinaj – the former “king” of the Albanian underworld, who has been missing for years. In that assassination on July 17, 2022 at the Fushë-Krujë overpass, Besmir Hoxha and Dikler Vata were also killed.

The trail of revenge?
The execution of Roan Brahimi's father is expected to be investigated in the context of his son's old conflicts. The incident raises suspicions of a possible revenge against the family, in a long chain of murders that has long involved Lezha and the surrounding areas.

Authorities are investigating with priority to clarify the motives and identify the perpetrators of today's attack. An official reaction from the State Police and the Prosecutor's Office is awaited.
