Lara Colturi, daughter of former Olympic super-G champion Daniela Ceccarelli, would like to return to compete under the Italian flag, leaving Albania.

The skier of Italian origin, who honored Albania with extraordinary results in the world championship that has just concluded.

Italy has long sought information on Lara Colturi's situation, but the skier's representatives, a few days before the end of the world championship, made the request to join Italy.

At the moment there is still no response from the Albanian National Olympic Committee, but there is a possibility that Colturi will make a unilateral decision.

Under these conditions, the 18-year-old could go a year without going down to the ski slope, but she wants to be avoided by her representatives.

Albania welcomed her, thus taking the first podium in history in alpine skiing. The last World Cup season, in fact, saw Colturin raise her level, with three podiums in total and a top-ten finish in the overall classification, performances that did not go unnoticed even in economic terms.

The reason for Lara Colturi's departure would be essentially economic. Colturi's season was very good and this would have raised the threshold of attention of Fis, which undoubtedly has a higher budget for alpine skiing than Albania, despite Albania's efforts to support the athlete.

However, the investments that would still not be enough to continue Colturi's ascent towards the Olympus of alpine skiing, she who as an all-round athlete could one day compete for the overall World Cup: skiing is a very expensive sport and, simply put, Italy has more at its disposal than Albania.
