Following information that reached the Piranja editorial office regarding the presence of aflatoxin in milk consumed by Albanian citizens, Piranja submitted an official request on March 29 to the AKU, which acknowledged that aflatoxin was present in a total of 8 samples taken in the period January-April 2025.

Hello! The control and/or monitoring plan for aflatoxins in milk and its by-products, implemented by the responsible authorities under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the period January 2024 to April 2025, is 26 samples.

For the year 2024, 2 non-conforming samples were positive, for the period January - April 2025, 8 samples were non-conforming. The analytical results of these samples, including the number of samples that resulted outside the permitted norms for aflatoxin content.

- For the period January-December 2024 non-conformities -1 sample with analytical result 0.203 µ/kg and one sample with analytical result 0.325 µ/kg 

For the period January-April 2025, the non-conformities and analytical results of the non-conforming samples: 0150µ/kg, 0.210 µ/kg, 0.221µ/kg, 0.331µ/kg, 0.882µ/kg, 0.293µ/kg, 0.228µ/kg, 0.337µ/kg.                         

3- What concrete measures has the NFA taken to address this issue?

Regarding the samples that have resulted non-conforming for the presence of Aflatoxin M1, the inspection bodies of the Regional Directorates have taken administrative measures in accordance with legal requirements for unsafe products, blocking the product with the aim of destruction, and have continued to follow the traceability of the product from where it was produced, going all the way to the farmer level. Thank you.

The Piranjat show has so far provided information about at least one of the major milk production companies, but it is up to Minister Denaj to inform the public about this risk that threatens consumers.
