Tensions with Russia return, Poland arrests 28-year-old for spying for Moscow

Poland has arrested one of its citizens, accused of spying for Russian intelligence services.

The Warsaw state prosecutor's office says the suspect, a 28-year-old named Wiktor Z, collected and distributed information about the operation of key facilities for Poland's defense.

The prosecutor's statement says the suspect "acted driven by ideological motives and pro-Russian convictions" and could now face a sentence of eight years to life in prison.

Warsaw has accused Moscow of being behind a series of acts of sabotage in Poland, including a major fire at a shopping mall last year. In response, Moscow has accused Poland of Russophobia.
