Immigration policies/ Famous TikToker leaves the US

The most famous TikToker on the planet, Khaby Lame, has been forced to leave the United States after being detained by federal authorities for an expired visa. The 25-year-old Senegalese-born influencer with Italian citizenship was arrested Friday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesperson.

Lame entered the U.S. on April 30 and overstayed his visa. Although he was not issued a formal deportation order, he was asked to leave through the “voluntary removal” procedure – a measure that does not penalize him with a ten-year ban on re-entry, as is the case with formal deportation cases.

During his stay in the US, Lame attended high-profile events, including the Met Gala and activities at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Khaby Lame, who became known during the pandemic for his wordless videos, but with pronounced facial expressions and satirical humor about useless “life hacks”, currently counts over 162 million followers on TikTok, holding the first place globally on the platform. In 2022 he signed a contract with the famous brand Hugo Boss, while in January 2025 he was announced as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Despite the incident, Khaby has yet to make a public comment on his detention and removal from the US, while he remains active on social media. His representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment from international media.
