Seven young Spanish tourists have been successfully rescued from a dangerous situation in the Peshtura Canyon, in southern Albania. The tourists were found trapped about 100 meters down in the canyon, but fortunately are in good health.

The incident occurred while descending a small waterfall, where three of the young men had damaged the rope and could no longer climb without specialized equipment. The rapid intervention of the fire and police forces of Tepelena and Gjirokastra made it possible to rescue them in time.

The tourists were exploring the area without a licensed guide, exposing themselves to the dangers posed by the rugged and isolated terrain of the Albanian canyons. Authorities stress that a lack of familiarity with the terrain and adequate equipment can lead to serious situations, as has happened in previous cases in the Nivica and Langarica canyons.

The event has once again raised the alarm about the need for a more regulated approach to adventure tourism in Albania, with particular emphasis on providing licensed guides and raising visitors' awareness of the risks associated with uncontrolled explorations in nature.
