The kidnapping of Jan Prenga/The gardener's chilling testimony: How the

In a chilling testimony given today in the Special Court, Festim Bexhdili, a gardener at the "Golden Resort" complex, has revealed gruesome details about the moments after the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga, an event for which Dritan Rexhepi and several other defendants are being tried.

"I was cleaning the pool when a white Range Rover drove into the garage. I approached to ask them and saw four armed men. I didn't know them, they asked me for water. I was scared, they told me 'one of them is dead'. They asked me to move the body from car to car. We moved it from the Range Rover to a Fiat Doblo that we used for supplies in the complex," Bexhdili said.

According to his testimony, the people did not have masks and one had tattoos, but he cannot remember their faces. "They also asked me for a pickaxe and a shovel. From the way they spoke, they seemed to me to be from the north. Then Altin Hajri came, cursed them and asked them to leave, saying 'you've got us by the neck'. I don't know what Altin did next. After they left, I returned home to Kavaja."

Festim Bexhdili is one of the people convicted in this case. He was initially sentenced to life imprisonment by the GJKKO, a decision that was upheld by the Appeals Court, but was later overturned by the Supreme Court, which sent the case back for a retrial.

SPAK suspects that Bexhdili has knowledge of the location or manner of disposal of Jan Prenga's body, but he has categorically denied these accusations.
