Convicted of murder, now suspected of gunshot wound, Albanian arrested in

An Albanian citizen, previously sentenced to 21 years in prison for the murder of a fellow countryman in 2013, has been arrested by Belgian authorities, suspected of being the perpetrator of a gunshot wound that occurred about a month ago in the Place Bizet area of Anderlecht.

The incident occurred during the night of March 21-22, when a person was injured by gunfire. Sources indicate that the injured person managed to escape thanks to the intervention of the owner of a nearby restaurant, where he entered to avoid the bullets. Thanks to the first aid provided in time, the injured person is out of danger for his life.

The arrested Albanian was questioned by authorities but denied involvement in the incident. However, he was formally charged and placed under electronic surveillance by order of an investigating magistrate.

Belgian justice sources say there is no evidence yet that the injury is linked to drug trafficking networks or recent criminal clashes. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and full circumstances of the incident.
