The continuation of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly is postponed

The continuation of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly has been postponed until tomorrow.

The decision was announced by the Directorate for Media and Public Relations of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that the session on the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo, interrupted on Tuesday, must continue within 48 hours of the interruption, as provided for by law.

"…The functionalization of institutions that emerged from the will of citizens is a constitutional obligation of every institution and every person vested with public authority. In this specific case, this is your obligation as the chair of the constitutive session as well as of all deputies elected in the Ninth Legislature of the Assembly. Consequently, I also remind you that the spirit of the Constitution, the judicial practice of the Constitutional Court and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of Kosovo, oblige you to continue the constitutive session no later than within forty-eight hours of its interruption," Osman's response to the chair of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, states.

A day ago, the Parliament failed to verify the mandates of the MPs who emerged from the February 9 elections. The opposition so far said that it voted against it on the pretext that the prime minister and ministers want to take up the post of MP "without resigning yet."

After the verification of mandates, the agenda of the session included the swearing-in of the deputies and then the election of the president and vice presidents.
