Prices from Lushnja to Tirana, the trader earns more than the producer

The show "Stop" went to the large vegetable market in Lushnja, where farmers from the area and beyond sell their products.

After "Stop" observed prices for a number of products, they expressed concern that their products are sold several times more expensive in Tirana.

Some farmers say they are forced to sell their produce so cheaply that they cannot even cover their costs.

According to economic expert Klaudio Bushaj, there is a huge price fluctuation from those who produce them to those who sell them to the final consumer.

"There is a huge fluctuation in prices between the farmer and the prices that are sold to the final consumer. I made a calculation, calculating the price set by the farmer, the costs until the product is put on sale, and also setting a profit margin, an acceptable profit margin. What I notice is that there is a very high increase in the price from the producer to the final consumer.

"We have seen that the price at the producer is 200 Lekë and the price sold to the final consumer is 350 Lekë, which means that we have an increase of over 45% in the price from the producer to the final consumer. This is not acceptable at all, there is a stratospheric increase in the price increase to the final consumer. State authorities must have a continuous monitoring of prices by controlling all retail sales points of agricultural products ," said economic expert Klaudio Bushaj./tvklan.al
