7 tourists rescued after being trapped in Nivica Canyon

Seven Spanish tourists have been rescued after being trapped in the Nivica canyons.

The tourists were trapped in very difficult and dangerous terrain, and their extraction was possible only after the intervention of the fire department.

"On 16.04.2025, at the place called "Peshtura Waterfall", 7 Spanish tourists who were exploring the area, rappelling down into the depths of the Nivica canyon, were trapped in the canyon due to the very difficult terrain.

Immediately after receiving the notification, the Tepelena Police Station and fire services headed towards the area where the tourists were stranded. Initially, they checked the area with a drone and were able to locate the tourists in the Nivica canyon.

After several hours of search and rescue operations, in very difficult and dangerous terrain, the Police services, as a result of well-organized work and cooperation with the fire services, have made it possible to extract 7 Spanish tourists from the difficult terrain where they were trapped.

"The tourists were transported by the Police services and accommodated in a guesthouse in the village of Dukaj, in good health. They thanked the Police services and other services for the dedication and humanity shown, as well as for the assistance provided in record time ," the police announced.
