Doctors sound the alarm: Heart disease is increasingly affecting young people

Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of mortality in Albania, but what is worrying doctors recently is the increase in cases among young people. Cardiologists warn that it is not uncommon for young people in their 20s or 30s to present with serious heart problems.

According to cardiologist Engjëllushe Hasani, one of the factors that is directly influencing the spread of cardiovascular diseases among young people is the use of narcotic substances. She also emphasizes that the combination of drugs with alcohol makes the situation even more alarming.

" Many of these diseases do not show early signs. Lipedema and high blood pressure often have no symptoms until it is too late ," Hasani told Top Channel.

The most recent case that has shocked public opinion is that of 28-year-old footballer of the "Dajti" team, Bledar Hajdari, who lost his life on the field during a semi-final match in the amateur football championship. The exact cause of death is expected to be determined by the Forensic Medicine.

Meanwhile, experts call on young people for regular health checkups and increased attention to their lifestyle, especially regarding the use of substances that damage the cardiovascular system.
