Throwing pyrotechnics at officers at the DP protest, 19-year-old arrested

Tirana police have arrested a person, who is accused of having, in collaboration with other individuals, thrown pyrotechnics at three police officers during yesterday's opposition protest.

ET, 19, from Tirana, was arrested, while an investigation has been launched into 4 other protesters, three from Korça and one from the capital.

Police report

Following the investigative and procedural actions carried out to identify and apprehend the persons who threw pyrotechnics at the police officers scheduled to be on duty in front of the Prime Minister's Office on 08.02.2025, the Crime Investigation Specialists at Police Station No. 1 identified and arrested citizen ET, 19 years old, resident of Tirana.


This citizen is suspected of having, in collaboration with other yet unidentified persons, thrown homemade explosives and pyrotechnics at police officers on duty, resulting in injuries to 3 police officers who received medical attention in hospital.

Also, proceedings were initiated in the absence of citizens O. Gj., 18 years old, AD, 40 years old, DC, 19 years old, all three residents of Korça, and FL, 24 years old, resident of Tirana.

After the protest ended, the scene was inspected, where objects and items thrown at police officers and the Prime Minister's Office were seized as material evidence, and sent for further examination.

The review of video footage continues to identify other persons involved in criminal activity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
