The salary increase for primary care doctors and teachers comes into force, from July 1, the increase varies from 12-14 thousand ALL

From July 1, the salary increase for doctors of the primary health system and teachers of the pre-university system came into force. The salary increase for both categories varies from 12 thousand to 14 thousand allek depending on the seniority of the job.

Specifically, after the increase reflected in the salaries of the month of June, the net salary of a family doctor near the Health Centers in Tirana from 88,000 ALL, which was with the increase of 12,000 ALL, reached 100,000 ALL.

While the net salary for a high school teacher in Tirana went from 63,000 Lek per month after the supplement to 76,800 Lek per month. The salary increase is in the amount of 13.8 thousand ALL.

The government predicted that by the end of 2024, the average salary in the administration will be 900 euros, while for doctors, nurses and teachers the increase will be up to 28,000 lek per month.

In the decision "On the approval of the document of priority policies 2025-2027" published earlier in the Official Gazette, it was determined that by the end of the year the gross salary of teachers will reach 104 thousand ALL.

Following the salary increase approved during 2023, in 2024, a significant increase in the salary of employees in the education sectors was foreseen. For pre-university education workers, they will have a salary increase of 31.3%, an increase which will lead to a cumulative increase for these teachers of 38% or in value of 28,900 ALL/month, bringing the monthly salary from 75,900 ALL/month to ALL 104,800/month.

In 2024, the focus of the reform will be salaries for family doctors and nurses.

In 2023, the general practitioner received a salary increase of 7% or a value of 6,000 ALL/month and for 2024 he will benefit from an increase of 20,000 ALL/month. The cumulative increase in the average salary of a general practitioner is 25% and goes up to 131,000 ALL/month.

Nurses and other health workers for 2023 received a salary increase of 7% or a value of 3,600 ALL/month and for 2024 they will benefit from an increase of 15,000 ALL/month. The cumulative increase in the average nurse's salary is 27% and reaches 87,000 ALL/month.

From July 1, pensions will be indexed by 13.5%

The Council of Ministers also approved the decision to index pensions to the extent of 13.5%. In the decision "On the determination of the indexation coefficient of the estimated base of 2022, for the calculation of pensions" it is stated that the indexation is applied to the revaluation of the estimated base achieved through contributions paid and their revaluations, carried out until 2022. and is applied for the purpose of calculating the initial monthly amount of pensions, which will be set with a starting date from July 1, 2024 onwards.

According to the decision, after the application of the 2022 index, the estimated base for the effect of calculating the initial monthly amount of pensions, which will be set with a starting date from July 1, 2024, cannot be higher than: a) three times of the national minimum wage, determined by the decision of the Council of Ministers, for the wages of the period from 1994 to 31.12.2001; b) the maximum salary at the country level, determined according to the criteria of Article 10, of Law No. 7703, dated 1.5.1993, "On social security in the Republic of Albania", as amended, for salaries from 2002 onwards./ Monitor
