Here's how you can view deleted messages on WhatsApp

Ever since WhatsApp offered the option to delete messages after sending, figuring out how to view deleted messages has become a challenge for anyone with some computer skills.

Messages are permanently deleted from your phone and the recipient's phone, but it's not impossible to recover them. Among the many applications designed to overcome this function, three are the most accredited and popular.

WhatsRemoved, available for Android, asks for permission to read and save WhatsApp notifications on your smartphone and records every message received. When you start it for the first time, you need to select the apps you want to monitor, apart from WhatsApp, you can also recover data from other messaging apps and social media like Instagram. This way WhatsRemoved+ will not save all notifications, but only those whose apps are manually selected.

Once set, WhatsRemoved detects possible removal of text or content and sends a notification to alert you that a message or file has been deleted. WhatsRemoved does not work if the chats are offline, battery saver is enabled, and if the sender immediately deletes the sent message, in short, a few nanoseconds after sending.

The second application, available for Android is NotificationHistory and has the advantage of having no limitations, always working in any mode of mobile phones. In practice it is a log of notifications. To use it, simply open the box that refers to the deleted message and look for the line that is preceded by the suffix. There you will find the first 100 characters of the deleted message.

The third app is Nova Launcher, also available for Android and useful for accessing notification history. Just go to "Activities", then "Settings" and select "Notification log" to create the link on your home screen. This way you can enter the notification history and search for WhatsApp messages deleted by a user.

However, it is only possible to recover messages that have been viewed, or those that have been deleted by mistake, moreover you can only view the first 100 characters of the deleted message, so if it is a very long message, it cannot to be read in its entirety. The registry doesn't store notifications forever, but only for a few hours, so it's best to take action right away.

Again for Android devices, it is also possible to access the notification center of the operating system and check the notification history to recover deleted messages from the chat. Unfortunately, those with an iPhone will have noticed that apps that extract messages from unrepentant senders only target Android smartphones. Even those using Apple and iOS can recover received and deleted messages. Dr Fone, for example, is a data recovery software that overcomes this problem.

You need to install the program, connect the device to the PC and grant the required authorizations. A window will open in which you can select "WhatsApp messages and attachments" to start scanning the files to be recovered, click "Reset" and then "Reset device" to see the deleted messages reappear in magical way on your smartphone. These programs, software and apps are legal and you can find them all on Google Play and various app stores.
