Decision taken / EU removes travel restrictions for Albania, Northern Macedonia

European Union governments agreed this Wednesday to add the United States to their list of countries from which they will remove travel restrictions, as anti-covid measures for travelers, EU diplomats said.

Ambassadors from 27 EU countries approved the addition of the US and five other countries, including Albania, with the change that will take effect in the coming days.

So Albania, Lebanon, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Taiwan will be added to the "green list", while the Chinese administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau will be included with a reciprocity requirement removed.

EU countries are recommended to gradually lift travel restrictions for the eight countries currently on the list - Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

Individual EU countries may still choose to require a negative COVID-19 test or a quarantine period. / Reuters
