The well-known Albanian cinematographer Kristaq Dhamo has passed away
The well-known Albanian cinematographer Kristaq Dhamo has passed away at the age of 89.
Dhamo, who made the first Albanian feature-length film, 64 years ago "Tana" died in the United States of America. The news was announced by director Joni Shanaj, who wrote on social networks that Dhamo died next to his two daughters and his wife, archaeologist Dhorka Dhamo.
Kristaq Dhamo was born on April 20, 1933 in Fier. He graduated from the Higher Cinematographic Institute in Budapest, Hungary. Then they started working at the Film Studio-"New Albania", where the film "Tana" was made in 1958, the first Albanian feature-length film.
For many years he was artistic director at Film Studio. Dhamo has provided valuable assistance in the preparation of young cinematography students by organizing several professional courses. In 1979 he was awarded the title "Deserved Artist" and in 1987 he was honored with the title "People's Artist". At the 11th Albanian film festival in 2000, Dhamo was awarded the career award.
"This photo, beautifully chosen from the archive and donated by a colleague of Kristaq Dhamos, seems to me the most representative today that Kristaq left us under the care of his daughters Rudina and Delina, who have been the most exemplary example of the love of two girls , for a father, even though that parent was and will remain a holy man for the wealth and spiritual prosperity of a country and an entire people.
Gone was an adjacent room with Dhorka, his brave wife and fellow traveler, a person of the greatest light and simply great love for humanity. The golden musket of labor prosperity beyond perhaps any imagination today.
My best friend, the teacher and savior of my soul, quietly and magnificently.
Farewell Kristaq", writes director Shanaj on the social network.
