Social Justice Organization: Rama should be punished for denigrating and

Today, the organization Social Justice has submitted two official complaints to the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination against Prime Minister Edi Rama, for the use of discriminatory and denigrating language during the electoral campaign.

"By calling men "cyryk" and urging women to "use their seductive skills to convince men to vote for the Socialist Party," the Prime Minister has used language that is not only sexist and derogatory, but that reinforces harmful stereotypes about women and men in our society."

Such language strips women of their value as citizens with equal rights, and reduces them to tools of political seduction, while portraying men as worthless or without free will.

We ask the Commissioner to:

1. Recognize this language as discriminatory.

2. To publicly apologize to the Prime Minister for these statements.

3. Establish a clear standard that prohibits discriminatory language in the public and political arena.

The language used by political leaders has a direct impact on societal norms. We cannot allow insults and discrimination to be normalized by those in power. We demand accountability and respect for all citizens!”
