Albania orders Javelin anti-tank missiles

Albania orders Javelin anti-tank missiles

Albania has sought to purchase Javelin anti-tank missiles manufactured by the US Javelin Joint Venture consortium, which consists of Lockheed Martin Corp. and Raytheon Technologies Corp. The news was announced by Lockheed Martin in a press release where he reported that the purchases of Albania, Norway, Latvia and Thailand are part of a $ 316 million order from the Pentagon.

"These contracts include more than 1,300 Javelin missiles funded by the recent Act of Supplementary Divisions of Ukraine and orders for several international clients, including Norway, Albania, Latvia and Thailand," the statement said .

The number of missiles and the value of the order from Albania is not known.

Javelin is a missile system that has been in use since 1989 and is expected to be used at least until 2050, according to the company. It costs about 250 thousand dollars per piece but is able to blow up a tank that costs many times more expensive.
