Attempted to bribe police officers, 5 drivers arrested in Durrës

The number of drivers arrested in Durrës has increased to five after they attempted to bribe police officers to avoid arrest.

Meanwhile, the police appeal to all road users to strictly enforce traffic rules,

 

Police Announcement:

Durrës Traffic Police crack down on another case of attempted bribery.

A driver who was driving while intoxicated and attempted to bribe police officers to avoid his arrest has been arrested.

Also today, Durrës Traffic Police arrested 4 drivers and prosecuted another who attempted to corrupt Traffic Police employees.

During preventive checks, the Traffic Police services, on "Martin Camaj" street, stopped the vehicle driven by a 46-year-old citizen, after he was found to be driving while intoxicated at a level of 1.26 mg/l. To avoid arrest, the 46-year-old offered the Police officer 4,500 new lek.

Following the actions, citizen 46 was arrested for the criminal offenses of "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions" and "Irregular driving of vehicles".

The Durrës Traffic Police appeals to all road users to strictly enforce traffic rules and invites citizens to report any violation of traffic rules to 112, guaranteeing complete anonymity and immediate response from the Police services.
