Drug trafficking from the Netherlands, 4 Albanians arrested in Italy

Five detention orders issued by the Court of Bologna were executed by the police against suspected members of an international criminal organization, which trafficked drugs between the Netherlands and Italy.

The operation was carried out by the mobile team, coordinated by the Bologna DDA, in collaboration with the Spanish investigative office, supported by the SCO contact unit in Udyco, Madrid, as well as with the mobile teams of Rimini, Treviso and Verona, where the suspects were identified.

Four Albanians and a Tunisian are accused of participating in a criminal organization engaged in illegal drug trafficking, a charge aggravated by possession of weapons. To avoid detection by authorities, the group used encrypted communications.

The investigation revealed that between April and November 2020, the group carried out nine cocaine imports, bringing in a total of 41.5 kilograms of the drug, as well as nine other marijuana imports, totaling 76.5 kilograms. In addition, they also brought 280 kilograms of hashish into Italian territory.

The value of the imported drugs, once they hit the market, was estimated at over 5 million euros.
