The Ministry of Justice of Kosovo has said on Wednesday that Serbia's request to provide information about the attack in Banjska in Zvečani, a year ago, is contrary to several points of the Law on international legal cooperation, and based on the laws of Kosovo, only the judicial bodies of Kosovo have jurisdiction to judge cases that are claimed to have been committed within the territory of the country.
On September 24 of last year, a Serbian armed group attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing the Kosovo Police official, Afrim Bunjak.
Three Serbian attackers were also killed in the exchange of fire.
The responsibility for the attack - which Kosovo considers terrorist - has been taken by the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Millan Radoicic, who is now believed to be in Serbia.
Investigations into this case are being carried out in Kosovo by the Special Prosecutor's Office, and Radio Free Europe's sources within this institution have said that an indictment is expected to be filed in the Banjska case before autumn.
Investigations into this case are also being carried out by the High Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, which has requested information in Kosovo about the Banjska case, through the European Union Rule of Law Mission, EULEX.
The European Union office in Pristina confirmed weeks ago to Radio Free Europe that it accepted the request of the Serbian authorities and forwarded it to the Kosovo authorities.
In the reaction of the Ministry of Justice, it was mentioned that Kosovo has never received a response from Serbia, in the request made in October of last year, "for the surrender of criminals so that they can be brought to justice in the Republic of Kosovo".
This ministry has called for an international investigation into, as it has said, "the training bases of terrorists on the territory of Serbia, Serbia's involvement in financing and supplying terrorists with weapons"./ REL
