Surroi: Kosovo held elections in the north because it received guarantees from

Publicist Veton Surroi has stated that Kosovo entered the municipal elections in the north because it received guarantees from the USA and the EU.

Invited to Top Story, Surroi added that the Kosovar side has accepted that the elections, which were followed by tensions, were not legitimate, due to the conditions in which they were held, even though the international community was consulted.

The closest solution, according to Surroi, should be the immediate holding of free, safe and OSCE-monitored elections.

"From Kosovo, there was no denial of the Polish-German opposition. Both countries do not represent each other and all issues of addressing the Serbian community in Kosovo are opened. There must be legitimate power in the 4 municipalities that elect people in these municipalities. These elections are not legitimate. The Kosovar side has consulted with the internationals. The EU has asked to postpone the deadline for the registration of political parties, but the pact was broken by the Serbian candidates. Today, the government of Kosovo, Escobar Lajçak and Vucic declare that there should be elections, they should be free, they should declare political pluralism and there should be no intimidation.

OSCE to be part of the supervisory body. For the first time there will be free elections. It should be addressed in several points where it is said that these elections should be held in a safe environment. Let's not rush, but use this crisis to solve the issue properly" - said Surroi.
