The police rejected the DP's request for the December 6 protest, but the EU

The State Police rejected the request of Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party to hold a protest on December 6, the day when the 27 leaders of the European Union countries arrive in Tirana as part of the EU summit.

According to the Police, the organization violates national and public security. However, the EU has a different approach.

The opposition's protest has been described by the European Union as an exercise of the legal freedoms of citizens, which must be respected by the authorities despite the fact that the EU-Western Balkans summit is taking place in Tirana on the same day.

A day ago, A2 CNN asked the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana about the simultaneous development of these two activities on December 6, representatives of Brussels explained that they expect the guarantee of the safety of the summit from the Albanian authorities, while respecting the protest of the opposition.

" This is the first time that the EU-Western Balkans summit is held in the region, sending a strong message to Albania and the entire Western Balkans about their geostrategic importance for the EU.

We are confident that, as hosts, the Albanian public authorities will ensure the safe and orderly development of the summit, respecting the legal exercise of freedoms by the citizens", says the response of the Delegation of the European Union.

The socialist majority has accused the opposition that with this protest it is violating the country's interests and the security of the summit between the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans, violating the Albanian customs of hospitality.

While the opposition has guaranteed that the protest will be peaceful, with a focus against the government, not European friends.
