The service that Ahmetaj does for us with the escape

Alfred Lela

The escape of Arben Ahmetaj should not be spectacularized, as the media, in the world and in Albania, does in such cases. As in the film Don't look up, this escape is a symptom of the power of oversaturation; just like the comet that threatens the earth and the world deals with more 'serious' things.

Ahmetaj's avoidance should not create the effect that the vibrators did in the cohabitant's villa in Hamallaj, or other accessories of the spectacular, which are planted in the public's attention, sometimes by shallowness and sometimes by evil programming.

Ahmetaj's escape is a major break in the axis of power, which can no longer bear the weight of its own abuses. The former deputy prime minister is the heaviest weight in a series of government scandals, which started with the former minister of the interior, Sajmir Tahiri, and "rested" on other ministers and MPs of the SP. Ahemtaj is saying that he does not give his head for the next sacrifice. He also refuses to be convicted as an accessory to the crime even though he served as such. Obvioulsy, Ahmetaj knew, even if he didn't do it, and knowing is enough to escape.

Having said that, in the 'Renaissance revolution' that Edi Rama promised at the beginning of the season, Arben Ahmetaj marks the final breakthrough. It constitutes the power that does not face itself, the public or the opponent. Above this rupture (tearing) of the idea of power as responsibility and accountability, there is the 'rooster of the political dunghill', Edi Rama himself. You could hear him when he was dealing with Ahmetaj and 'other friends who have strayed from his and God's path', when he continued the same tiresome refrain that political opponents are to blame; not offering any kind of reflection on his own role in this philosophy of power emanating from him was like seeing a man talking to the other side of his split personality. So, someone who assembles with the psychological shadow by offering each part denial.

Rama's monologues are the last sign of his power. When he sobers up, he realizes this. This is the reason why the unconscious told the conscience to invite the Albanians not to go to the elections, and after May 14 to thank them for their social and political apathy.

It has turned, therefore, into a divided, denying, contradictory political entity. He no longer surprises, but only repeats what once was seen as a surprise. His 'unification of all hoodlums' formula has come full circle. The stench is now being spread, each one for himself and for his own head, and Ahmetaj's escape proves it.

What message remains for Rama about power and continuity? The one from the movie Don't look up. The call for people not to go to the polls, to close their noses and vote for him, not to see, not to judge, to hold that bastard chld until he calls that other woman a 'whore', not to listen to his critics and, alas, especially the opposition.

An anti-message, then.

For this point where he brought Rama with his escape, Arben Ahmetaj can be thanked.
