That's why technology companies have been looking for years for a magic formula that will allow users to keep their attention and gaze on screens as long as possible, watch as much content and ads as possible.

To be successful at this, they must constantly change and improve the algorithm, but also be careful about the type of content they will be shown.

For example, negative and violent content can attract a lot of attention from users, but such content can have bad consequences for them, especially for teenagers.

Meta seems to have managed to find a way to further keep the attention of Facebook and Instagram users and this is an algorithm based on – artificial intelligence (AI).

Since it was introduced, the time users spend on these social networks has increased significantly, Mark Zuckerberg's company boasted.

Since the introduction of the new AI algorithm, the time users spend on Facebook has increased by about eight percent, while this percentage for Instagram is smaller, but still significant - six percent.

Meta only mentioned the percentages, not the increase in actual time users now spend on those networks. According to the forecasts of experts from eMarkter, this increase can reach 10 to 15 hours more during a year, theindependent reports .

Zuckerberg has more plans for the social network and Artificial Intelligence (AI), so last week, during the announcement of quarterly results, he announced that he hopes to add a completely new resource to Facebook and Instagram, namely a category of content that it will be completely generated via artificial intelligence or it will be some kind of summary compiled by artificial intelligence.

Expectations for the future are, therefore, that in the arms of AI, users will spend more time with Zuckerberg's networks, which will have a positive effect on ad display and advertising revenue, but on the other hand, the costs of the development and use of artificial intelligence can increase significantly.
