Who are the most skilled?/ Get to know the 3 types of employees

How you act at work plays a crucial role in your career success.

Much depends on how you interact (eg, collaborate and manage conflict) with colleagues, clients, bosses, and people in your professional network. Social psychologists call this your reciprocation style.

In his best-selling book, Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success, psychologist and Wharton professor Adam Grant lays out three main styles of reciprocity found in the workplace:

1. Beneficiaries set their first and last interests.

2. Recipients when people do them a favor, they return it in a way that is no more, no less.

3. Givers focus on others more than themselves.

According to a number of studies, givers make more efficient engineers or salespeople with higher profits than takers or measurers.

Grant proposes that these high performers are strategic in the choices they make and the boundaries they set. This, of course, is what makes them more attractive and desirable to employers.

He goes further to say that being a giver can actually be a sign of intelligence.
