The American ambassador to Serbia: We want clarification on what Belgrade signed

The American ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, stated that the US wants "clarification from Serbia about what it signed with Russia in New York", underlining that in this period "no one should have signed anything with Russia", writes VOA.

It is about a new cooperation agreement with Russia for mutual "consultations" on foreign policy issues, but no details are known.

The agreement brought many reactions, where Serbia was harshly criticized. Serbian Minister Selakovic tried on Sunday to play down the importance of the agreement, stressing that it is "technical" and not related to security issues.

Hill said that during the proceedings of the UN General Assembly, the United States held "fruitful conversations" with the Serbian delegation on global issues and other issues.

"Only then did we hear about that document," said Ambassador Hill, emphasizing that "the United States wants clarification from Serbia."

"We want to hear what Serbia wants to do in the future and see what kind of relations it will develop with a country that brutally attacked its neighbor and even uses threats to use nuclear force. We want to understand what cooperation is based on. between Serbia and Russia" , he added.
