Famous Belgrade musician of Montenegrin origin Vlado Georgiev, a harsh critic of the authorities both in Serbia and Montenegro, said on Thursday that he was on the border banned to enter his native country, as stated, “for the reasons of national and internal security or public health”.

The singer, who was born in Dubrovnik (Croatia) and spent most of his life in Herceg Novi (Montenegro) and who has Serbian citizenship and currently lives in Belgrade, was sent back from the Serbian-Montenegrin border, after being handed over a decision banning entry into that country.

The document that Georgiev posted on his Twitter account states that he was banned from entering on the grounds of “national, i.e. internal security or public health”.

Previously, Georgiev repeatedly tweeted support for the Montenegrin opposition coalition “The Peace Is Our Nation”, led by Aleksa Becic.

Georgiev wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday: “Vucic = Djukanovic. Vucic is not Serbia, nor is Djukanovic Montenegro. These are just two dictators. Neither has a majority. They are manipulators”.

The parliamentary elections in Montenegro are scheduled on Sunday, 30 August.
